Photo Project: Week 22

September 07, 2013  •  2 Comments

I'm back! I know it's a bit later than I promised to return, but things have been so crazy since June... The upshot? Well, I'm all settled in NYC again :)

It's September and I'm only at Week 22! I feel so far behind compared to my other photo buddies... not forgetting that I began this project in February rather than January. But hey, at least this will buy me some time in 2014 to think of my next project, right? Lol.

For my return/Week 22 photo, I chose to showcase a theme featuring water, sunlight and a plant as an ode to the end of Summer. So the theme for this week is "The Unnoticed." I figured something relating to nature would be too obvious, and it wasn't until I reviewed my takes that I decided on a theme actually. Seems like I'm doing everything haphazardly?

I chose "The Unnoticed" because it speaks to another theme I was bouncing around in my head while analyzing this take. The first thing that catches the eye in this shot is the darker hue of green and tiny drops of water in the center of the photo. However, it's not until after a few moments of tracing around the edges of the leaves that you'll probably notice the tiny droplets of water that's on the underside of that very same shadowy leaf. Initially, I thought of this droplet as an expression of myself. That is, a somewhat shy person. However, I don't think labeling this shot as "Shy" was quite appropriate given the nature of the object in the take (the lead & water droplet). Consequently, I brainstormed and finally decided on "The Unnoticed" as that's exactly what that tiny water droplets are.... Unnoticed. Moreover, it also communicates "shyness" without being too obvious, right?

Additionally, since Summer is nearing to an end, and I hardly got to capture any shots of beautiful and sunny NYC, I figured I might as well salvage some sunny glow in a photo before Autumn creeps in.

This shot was taken with a macro lens and underwent minimal editing in Lightroom for contrast and lighting.

So there you have it... I look forward to your comments & critique. Suggestions for photos are always welcome. And a big Thank you to everyone for checking out my work while I was in hibernation :)
