Week 13 and I'm adding a bonus photo!
I thought about doing a "beauty" theme for this week, but couldn't quite figure out how to convey some aspect of beauty without being too obvious. So, I photographed an array of my make-up and did some self shots. And what'd you know... I liked the layouts of both photo sets so much that I decided to include both for my Week 13 snapshot, entitled: Enhancements.
Here's the make-up setup.

And here's the self-portrait.

I decided not to include my watermark for the self-portrait because I thought it was too distracting from the focus of the photo: my eyes. As seen from the photo, I used some eye liner and eye-shadow to add contrast and depth to my eyes. I've always wanted to do an eye-focused photo, but always found it hard to capture a shot to my liking. That said, I was pleasantly surprised with this head-on shot. I chose to render it in black and white because I think B & W images have a timelessness to it. Don't get me wrong, color is awesome... it's just a matter of preference for this particular photo:)
I chose the theme "enhancements" because that's exactly what make-up is. Make-up is not something that makes us beautiful. No, it just enhances the features we already have... hence the theme, enhancements. It's the same as nail polish. If you have a pretty nail shape, then nail polish will just enhance the features of your nails. It will not make your nails look longer and thinner if your nail shape is short and broad. But does it matter? Physical beauty is a fictionalized concept. Real beauty lies in the goodness of your heart.
The setup was a simple black backdrop, with minimal lighting. I used a black table to lay out the make-up pieces.
