Ah, Week 4 already?

After moping for a good two days from the disappointment of my last photo, I started extra early for this week's photo... and my my, changing the rules paid off after all!

Since this past week featured two observances, Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day, I thought I'd pay homage to at least one. After much thought, I picked Valentine's Day to be the inspiration for my shot. Most naturally, I got a rose for my photo. I actually had a pink and red rose, but after some takes... I decided on the red rose as the winner for what I wanted to convey. I figured that nothing spells romance and love more than a single red rose. After all, a rose has its own way of speaking...

The backdrop was a plain black cloth, which was very dimly illuminated by flash/lighting. You can read a detailed account of the process here. With some tweaks here and there.... I got this shot, entitled: "Amour."

In keeping with the Valentine's Day theme, here's a poem that speaks to the heart of what a rose symbolizes.
