Photo Project: Week 2

February 02, 2013  •  2 Comments

So it's week two of my 52 weeks of Photos challenge, and I must say... this week was quite hard!

After my initial post last week, I had quite a few ideas popping in my head for this week's photo. However, once the time came around, I found that my visions were not translating into that "amazing photo". I spent about an hour swapping around locations, lighting and objects. After 50+ photos or so, I decided to just drop my predisposed ideas and try something new. Low and behold, 5 pics later.... I had my photo for week 2. I guess this photo challenge project is not as easy as I thought it would be! Hence, the name "challenge!?"

Well my lesson from here on out is that I'll just had to fiddle around with a concept on the day of the shoot, rather than thinking I can conjecture something perfect before time. That said, this week's photo features a trinket of bells and camels. I bought this extraordinary piece last year and it's been hanging in my living room ever since. I chose this piece because of it's intricate artwork and also because I thought it looked great against a black backdrop. After I took the first photo, I realized that there was this weird watery kind of reflection from the lighting. So, as I continued to take more photos until I got that almost "perfect shot", I decided to enhance that watery effect. Additionally, as part of my FB's 52 week challenge, I included a sticky note as the object that I'll be featuring in every photo for the remainder of the challenge. Since the sticky note comes in a variety of colors, and can be twisted and shaped into many forms, I thought it was a versatile enough object to be featured in 52 photos....

Enough of my chatter, here's the photo for Week 2: Trinkets.

Thanks .... I did try my best at arranging the camels and bells, but since they were connected by several chains... getting proper distance between them for proper structure and uniqueness was a bit difficult.

Hey V... nice one, but i think a more structured placement of the camels and bells with a closer (and maybe lower angled) shot of the camel to show the detail and artwork you mentioned would've done more for the shot. I do like the light pattern and texture on the table and think the contrast and sharpness of the camels against the soft background would make a great shot.
Keep shooting. I look forward to next week's post.
