Photo Project: Week 1

January 26, 2013  •  2 Comments

Ever since the start of 2013, I've been contemplating on whether to take up a photo challenge as one of my "resolutions" so to speak. I pondered on the 365 Photo Project, the Photo for a Month project and the Photo a week for 52 Weeks Project. I couldn't quite decide which of the challenges I could fully commit to until this week. Finally, I'm sold on the Photo a Week for 52 Weeks as my photo challenge for 2013.

Indeed, it's already week 3 of 2013, and some friends of mine are way ahead on their photo challenges for the year. However, I see no problem starting now. After all, that will just mean three photos that find themselves in 2014, right?

For my first photo, I decided on a theme of "simple objects & colors".  I thought I'd share my passion for stationery. Anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I have somewhat of a weakness for gathering & organizing stationery. Whether it be highlighters, decorated papers, different sizes of sticky notes or 2B pencils, I always find an excuse to buy an extra packet of something :) Law school has done nothing more but increase my need to add to my pen & paper collection.

For the next 51 weeks, I'll be posting a new photo every Saturday. So be sure to follow, and of course comments are always welcome! That said, here's my very first photo for the 52 Weeks Photo Challenge. It's entitled, "Stationary."

Photo Specs:
     F-stop: f/1.8
     Exposure time: 1/200 sec

Indeed. However, I felt as though using photos from those previous weeks when I hadn't yet decided on my project would have been some form of cheating. Hence why I'll be forwarding three photos in 2014. Ah well, never too late to start, right?

I couldn't agree with you more.... I tried very hard to crop this photo to eliminate as much black space as possible... but low and behold, that sliver of black remains there. Will definitely keep an eye out for such distractions in my future posts.

Thank you for the comments... looking forward to more!

If you had taken photos for the first three weeks of the year you could have used those :-) and still keep everything in 2013, but this method works just as well, it's about discipline....

I like the colours and the care taken to arrange it, the lighting is nice too... the only thing that bothers me a little is that sliver of black to the lower right... it keeps dragging my eyes over to that corner so for me it's an unnecessary distraction. Nice work!
