It's almost the end of the year and I'm only at Week 35! Ah well, at least I haven't given up on this project, right? The theme for this week was "Abstract." Pretty open-ended as one can imagine. I wasn't quite sure what to do as I didn't want to pass off just any photo as worthy of being labeled "abstract." Thus, I tried to think of a story to go along with what I had in mind for this week's feature. Looking at the shot below, can you guess what the story is?

Any guesses? Look carefully, the textured warm-colored fleshy things are mushrooms and the background is a tree trunk. I came across this lovely piece of nature while I strolling along the forest in search of rocks for my sister's science project. After getting low like a Hobbit to take a few shots of the tree trunk, I thought, "this reminds me of when Bilbo ran off screaming that he was off to an adventure!" Hence, trying not to give away too much when I submitted my photo for inclusion to Fifty-two Frames, I labeled this as, "Will you come explore with me?"

This shot was cropped to draw more attention to the mushrooms, and then edited to add some warm tones to the overall image. Lately, I've been drawn more to earthly tones. Apparently, my new attraction has been noticed by a few colleagues. I realize this is a special type of photo-editing, and that not many artists/photo-lovers are particularly fond of this type processing. But I'm curious... what are your thoughts?
