Thus far for this year, I've had a series of unexpected travels. Beginning with Las Vegas and ending with South America, I am truly exhausted and have promised myself no more flying until next year (after all, 16 airplanes in 2 months is quite tiring). However, minus the fatigue, I've managed to snag myself some hundreds of photos (most of which I'm still sorting). So since this is still a photo-blog (despite my "rights" talk), I figured I might as well get around to my travel-log... and here it goes...
In March, I trekked to Vegas for a week. It was such an amazing trip. Even though my photos will have you believe it was sunny and some-what desert like, I was freezing throughout my stay. I didn't realize that even Nevada had somewhat cold Springs! So cold, I ended up buying a sweater to wear! Nevertheless, I managed to keep myself warm by feasting off of the delicious Crepes and wonderful goodies all the restaurants and eateries had to offer.... (so much, I may have gained some lbs!). Here's some photos from the Wynn and Las Vegas Strip.

In May, I found myself headed to Washington, DC to participate in the 17th Inter-American Human Rights Competition. I was there for a week. Since my team and I were there for an international human rights forum, I didn't have much time to snap photos. However, when we did find some time, we traveled to the Native American Museum in the heart of the museum strip. The architecture was simply amazing, and the exhibits were so heartfelt (as the theme of the 17th IA Competition centered around indigenous rights). Here's a few snapparoos from the museum. Others can be found here.

About a fortnight after my return from Washington, I found myself in New York. Again, I was there for only a week (as I had registered for Summer classes, which began immediately upon my return to MN). As it was the first time I was in NY since I bought my DSLR, I figured I might as well take a few photo-walks around the city. And so I did! I visited the Museum of Natural History (for the upteemth time), Times Square, Central Park and a few places in Westchester County. Naturally, walking around NYC with an almost 4lb camera and stopping to take photos had people thinking that I was a tourist (if only they knew that I've lived in the city for almost 6 years!). I guess it wasn't until I was pushed a bit here and there by busy New Yorkers during rush hour that I realized why non-New Yorkers say NY natives are so rude and always in a hurry! All in all though, my heart continues to love New York....

Shortly after my return to MN, I realized I needed to travel to Guyana, South America. My grandmother was terribly ill, and eventually passed away. Being the eldest grandchild and the one who has spent the most time with my grandma, there was no way I was going to miss my opportunity to say my goodbyes. The trip was very melancholic. However, it was sort of a mini family reunion for my family (as my relatives span across the continents and we hardly ever see each other). Once again, I was there for only a week... and was only able to snap a few shots here and there....

After Guyana, I was once again in New York. This time, I spent about two weeks before returning to MN. I spent most of the time in doors as there was heat wave in the city. However, I did trek out to the city for some last shots before my return to the Midwest...

Returning to the Midwest was no piece of cake though. While at the airport, my flight got delayed due to a storm in Boston, MA. As a result, I'd miss my connecting flight from Washington, DC to Minneapolis, MN. After waiting in a line for over an hour, and speaking to a frustrated air-hostess, I finally managed to get on a late flight to DC with a connecting flight to leave the following morning to MN. Because my flights were so screwed up, that meant I had six hours in DC in the wee hours of the morning. Having no option of a hotel (because the airlines claimed all were booked due to delayed/cancelled flights in DC), I called up a friend to stay hour for those six hours. Being the sweetheart that she is, she accommodated me and my tired butt on a whim. It turned out to be the most fun six hours I had had in a long time! I met her mom, and again managed to snap a few lovely shots before leaving for my plane the next morning... Here's a few pieces of souvenirs my friend bought from her trip to Egypt earlier this year...

Eventually, I got back to MN.... Sighs. And now... it's back to biking, photoclicking, and preparing for the start of classes. With the Minnesota State Fair soon approaching, stay tuned for new uploads of this annual Midwestern fiesta!
